Foster exchanges and cooperation between university and enterprise, and promote innovation-driven development

On the morning of January 3, the cooperation meeting between Sichuan Road & Bridge and the National Engineering Technology Research Center for Prefabrication Construction in Civil Engineering (Tongji University) was held in Chengdu. Xiong Guobin, Deputy Party Secretary and Chairman of the Group, delivered a speech at the meeting. The meeting was also attended by Li Jianzhong, Deputy Dean of the College of Civil Engineering of Tongji University, Deputy Director of the National Engineering Technology Research Center for Prefabrication Construction in Civil Engineering; Shi Xuefei, Director of the Bridge Construction and Information Technology Research Office of Tongji University; and Lu Wei, Chief Engineer of the Group Company, and Deng Yunxiang, Deputy Chief Engineer.

Chairman Xiong Guobin extended his welcome to President Li and his entourage in his speech and expressed his gratitude to Tongji University for cooperation with Sichuan Road & Bridge. He pointed out that Sichuan Road & Bridge has been extensively involved in the construction of various bridges, and has representative bridges in different historical stages as one of the leader in the bridge construction sector. At present, as the transportation sector develops, many expressways are located in mountain areas, with high bridge-to-tunnel ratio and high construction difficulty. Traditional construction methods face immense pressures in safety, quality and environmental protection, with high construction costs and low efficiency. How to harness new technology and techniques to achieve large-scale and factory production and improve the efficiency of construction is an important issue for Sichuan Road & Bridge. It is hoped that the scientific research advantages of Tongji University and the project experience of Sichuan Road & Bridge are brought into play to spur the common development of industry and research. At the same time, school-enterprise cooperation dovetails with the modern development concept and helps the transformation, upgrading and innovation-driven development of Sichuan Road & Bridge.

At the meeting, Dean Li gave a basic introduction to National Engineering Technology Research Center for Prefabrication Construction in Civil Engineering. He pointed out that Tongji University holds advantages in bridges, machinery and equipment and Sichuan Road & Bridge has strengths in construction. It is believed that the bilateral cooperation will certainly lead to good achievements in the road infrastructure construction in mountain areas.

The meeting studied the cooperative establishment of the Southwest Highway Research Institute of the National Engineering Technology Research Center for Prefabrication Construction in Civil Engineering, and discussed the management mechanism of the research institute, team building, objectives and tasks, and research topics. The unveiling ceremony of the Southwest Highway Research Institute of the National Engineering Technology Research Center for Prefabrication Construction in Civil Engineering was also held at the meeting.
